Archivist’s Pick: Sent With Gratitude

Here’s this month’s piece from the Drucker Institute’s archivist, Bridget Lawlor. By drawing lessons from the vast treasure trove of papers and other objects that are collected in Peter Drucker’s archives, Bridget is giving new life to decades-old material.

Many of us are taking this Thanksgiving Day to express our gratitude to others. But it seems Peter Drucker enjoyed doing so any time of year.

In this March 1998 letter to Jack Shaw, the former dean of the Drucker School of Management, Drucker expresses not only his gratitude but also his admiration and affection for Shaw and his contributions.

“Thanks to you, to your leadership and to your clear vision, the School now knows—or should know—its opportunities and its priorities,” Drucker tells Shaw. “And thanks to your initiatives the School has already tackled, and with considerable success, some of the most important challenges.”

In the same spirit, we’d like to take a moment to express our admiration, gratitude and affection to you, our readers, for your continued support and engagement as we carry out our work “strengthening organizations to strengthen society.”
