Drucker Award for Nonprofit Innovation
“Nonprofit institutions are central to American society and are indeed its most distinguishing feature.”
—Peter F. Drucker
For 28 years, the Peter F. Drucker Award for Nonprofit Innovation was granted to a social-sector organization that demonstrated Peter Drucker’s definition of innovation—change that creates a new dimension of performance. In addition, the judges looked for programs that were highly effective and that made a difference in the lives of the people they serve.
In its last years, the program was redesigned to teach nonprofit leaders key lessons about innovation as part of the prize application process. Some 90% of participants indicated that the application had, in fact, prompted them “to explore additional opportunities for innovation” at their organizations.
