The Drucker Institute at Claremont Graduate University and Daiwa Asset Management Forge Long-Term Agreement to Promote Investments in America’s Best-Managed Companies

Daiwa Asset Management gains new insights into America’s best-managed companies through Drucker Institute’s groundbreaking rankings and research

Claremont, California, September 19, 2025 — The Drucker Institute at Claremont Graduate University today announced a new multi-year agreement with Daiwa Asset Management to expand the reach and impact of the Drucker Institute Company Rankings on corporate effectiveness.

The partnership embodies the Institute’s mission of “promoting effective management and responsible leadership to strengthen organizations and society.”

At the heart of the agreement is the Drucker Institute’s Data Innovation Team — a unique collaboration of scholars, PhD students, data scientists, and practitioners who are redefining how corporate effectiveness is measured.

The team is advancing the five dimensions of the rankings — customer satisfaction, employee engagement and development, innovation, social responsibility, and financial strength — while pioneering new methods to measure intangibles and relational assets that have long been overlooked in management research.

For Daiwa, one of Japan’s leading asset management companies, this partnership provides powerful tools to enhance investor engagement with companies worldwide. By working directly with the Data Innovation Team, Daiwa gains profound insights into how well firms are managed — insights grounded in both Peter Drucker’s timeless management philosophy and cutting-edge data science.

“This agreement builds on Peter Drucker’s legacy of measuring what truly matters in management,” said Michael H. Kelly, executive director of the Drucker Institute. “The Data Innovation Team is the engine that makes this partnership so valuable. Their work brings rigor, creativity, and purpose to the rankings, and we are excited to expand its impact through Daiwa’s leadership in global investment.”

Michelle Bligh, president of Claremont Graduate University, stated: “This partnership exemplifies the best of CGU’s mission to connect research with practice. It will not only produce insights that benefit investors and companies but also create exceptional opportunities for our students to learn, lead, and innovate alongside world-class practitioners.”

The partnership also establishes The Daiwa Asset Management and Larry Crosby Corporate Effectiveness Fellowship,” honoring the founder, architect, and developer of the measurement system and the science behind the rankings’ construction, as well as the former dean of the Drucker School of Management

The fellowship will support PhD students on the Data Innovation Team, ensuring that Crosby’s groundbreaking vision — connecting management research with practical tools for business and society — keeps thriving.

In addition, the agreement strengthens the Institute’s commitment to innovation through its Peter Drucker Innovation Graduate Student Scholarship, which recognizes graduate students whose work exemplifies Drucker’s vision of innovation as a purposeful response to change.

Since 2017, the Drucker Institute Company Rankings — published annually in The Wall Street Journal — have established the standard for assessing corporate effectiveness. With this new agreement, extending through at least 2029, the Drucker Institute and Daiwa Asset Management reaffirm their shared dedication to promoting responsible leadership and management for the benefit of investors, companies, and society as a whole.
